Lord Krishna and Arjuna from The Bhagavad Gita
Before going to battle Krishna counsels Arjuna on Universal Truth, Harmony and Duty.
Before the big battle, the warrior Arjuna was facing a moral
dilemma at seeing his relatives on the opposite side of the
battlefield.  Arjuna wishes to abandon the battle, to abstain
from action; Krishna warns, however, that without action, the
cosmos would fall out of order and Truth would be obscured.
He explains to Arjuna he has duties as a famous warrior and
Prince. He reveals to Arjuna the real over the unreal.
When asked by Arjuna, Krishna
shows to him his True Universal
Form. Krishna then manifests
the whole universe in one place.
After seeing this powerful Truth,
Arjuna is overcome with awe
and reverence. With joined
palms in total surrender and
acceptance, Arjuna then sees
Krishna manifest himself as the
four-armed Vishnu.
The other army which Arjuna
was facing was insurmountable
with more men and greater
warriors.  It looked as though
Arjuna would be defeated until
Kirshna began to drive Arjuna’s
chariot for him.  Even though the
opposing army was far superior,
with Kirshna in the drivers seat,
Arjuna was divinely led and
driven into victory.
"Thou seest Me as Time who kills, Time who brings all to
doom, The Slayer Time, Ancient of Days, come hither to
consume; Excepting thee, of all these hosts of hostile chiefs
arrayed,There shines not one shall leave alive the battlefield!
Dismayed no longer be! Arise! Obtain renown! Destroy thy
foes!  Fight for the kingdom waiting thee when thou hast
vanquished those. By Me they fall—not thee! The stroke of
death is dealt them now, Even as they stand thus gallantly;
My instrument art thou!... ’Tis I who bid them perish! Thou wilt
but slay the slain.Fight! They must fall, and thou must live,
victor upon this plain!"
